Thank you for joining me. I am so glad you are here! Get to know me and the things that inspire me to write.
I was born to missionary parents in Zimbabwe, Africa. We moved around a great deal, so I came to an early understanding of the importance of a solid family unit. I was both homeschooled and traditionally schooled so can speak to the benefits and challenges of each. My father was killed in a motorcycle accident when I was a young child. Growing up without a dad made my relationship with Jesus very important to me. I experienced His faithfulness in my life in tangible ways and felt the closeness of "Abba Father".
I met my husband Steve while in high school, and together we attended Prairie Bible College, in Alberta. I graduated with a Bachelor of Religious Education and a double minor in Music and Missions. Our desire was to serve overseas but the Lord has kept those doors closed, calling us to local ministry. I have served in various capacities in our home churches, which include worship teams, children's ministry, women's ministry leadership, Bible study, mentoring and event planning, I have also administrated a homeschool group.
Recently, upon retiring, the Lord opened doors for my husband to utilize his technical background to partner with an organization that supports missionaries doing Business as Mission in the closed countries of the 10/40 window. The dream of working overseas, though it looks very different than we ever imagined, is coming to pass.
Beyond my writing, I have had the blessing of being a conference exhibitor and speaker, sharing Chasing Adulthood with families. Most recently, I spoke at a homeschool conference in Mazatlán, Mexico! If you are interested in my topics or would like to schedule me to speak at your event please visit my Contact Me page.
I am married to Steve, my husband of 30 years, and have three amazing children. I enjoy writing, caring for my flowers, meeting friends for coffee and traveling. I am grateful to lead a young moms Bible study, and serve on the worship team at our church.
Shortly after Steve and I were married, we moved to the Bay Area of Northern California where we lived for twenty-five years, raising our family. In 2019 we were looking for a change and a slower pace of life. The Lord clearly called us to Colorado, and we’ve never looked back! We appreciate the wide-open spaces, beautiful mountains, and our caring and connected neighborhood.
Our daughter Hannah works at a charter school as an interventionist specialist. She and her husband Conner live near us. Our son Mitchell recently graduated from university and is currently working as a Student Services Counselor at his alma mater. Alex is in high school and enjoys sports, video games, cars, and a new driver’s license. He works as a Courtesy Clerk at our local supermarket. Steve and I feel very blessed that all three children have made individual and personal commitments to follow Jesus. What more could we ask for?
